Andrea Brili (Sapienza Università di Roma) has won the 4th edition of the AIROYoung Dissertation Award (AYDA) with a Ph.D. thesis entitled “Derivative-Free Optimization: worst-case complexity for Line- Search methods and a Mixed Penalty-Barrier approach“, supervised by Prof. Giampaolo Liuzzi.
Andrea reached a total of 98 points, 8.5 of which assigned after the presentation at the ODS 2025 session dedicated to the AYDA.
Before assigning the prize, 22 expert reviewers have evaluated 8 candidate theses in 2 revision rounds. The average score of the theses has been 79.5 (out of 100), witnessing the high quality of the submitted theses.
