1 year postdoctoral position in OR and AI for railway transportation at Université Gustave Eiffel

  • Job context and description
    This position is part of the FERROMOBILE project (https://ferromobile.fr/en/). It is a French project funded in the context of the AMI CORIFER 2021 (Appel à Manifestation d’Intérêt – Comité d’orientation de la recherche et de l’innovation de la filière ferroviaire). It proposes a novel public transport concept in which vehicles capable of travel onboth rail and road supply an on-demand service to passengers.
  • Tasks
    The post-doctoral researcher will focus on the formalization and development of optimization modules for the design of on-demand public transport passenger service. These modules will be integrated in a closed-loop simulation environment for testing and assessing the system. The research will focus on both theoretical and methodological aspects, to allow the emergence of new solution approaches. The rail traffic management algorithms developed within the years at the COSYS-ESTAS laboratory of Université Gustave Eiffel will be used as a basis and possibly a benchmark for the new modules. Effort will also be devoted to the adaptation and testing of these algorithms.
  • Candidate profile
    Applicants must have a PhD in operations research, computer science, software engineering, applied mathematics or equivalent. They must be willing to integrate to the research activities of the team of the COSYS-ESTAS laboratory by providing original ideas, participating to international conferences and producing high quality scientific papers. Good knowledge of C++ and fluency in spoken and written English are essential requirements.

    Salary: between 33 500 and 36 300 euro year gross salary
